Subject: EXP Power Share: Special Edition - Presenting to the Board / Management Committee

Global EPs,

It is that time of year where our EXP members are building 2025 Plans, Strategies and Budgets. We’ve had multiple clients reach out in the last week about effectively presenting to their management committee and board. So, this morning we built this summary of resources to share with a member, and I thought you all might like to leverage some or all of this work for your members. NOTE: There are a few Insurance industry specific research notes, so obviously swap out with the best notes for client industry.

XYZ Client,

We did a deep dive to put together the following resource list for you. Obviously, you won’t be able to use it all for the upcoming presentation, but it gives you a “Smart Index” into key resources you can use and your team can use to break down the communication barriers IT typically has in the organization and continue building on the incredible Partnering and Enablement Brand you are already building.

There is not a “one size fits all” or “standard deck” for any organization management committee/board meeting that I’ve ever seen. It really comes down to the key messages you want to reinforce and the brand you want to build for yourself and the IT organization.  There are some best practices for presenting to the board and/or management committee. The top feedback we hear is to focus on Business Value of IT, Business Outcomes, and Results over activity and status reports.

I recommend you watch this quick video and then with your team in the next staff meeting: CIOs: Develop Value Propositions to Maximize C-Suite Partnerships

Also recommend you take on the role of providing not only internal data to your Board/MC, but also External Industry Data as part of your “brand” and “strategic value” to the organization – so they want you in all the critical meetings from Strategy formulation to Results (Strategic Benefit Realization):

Please let us know if you would like to discuss further with me and/or the authors of these key insights.

Cheers,

Scott
